Our Adult Ministry and Small Group opportunities are for adults of all ages. We offer a wide range of educational opportunities consisting of both on-going Bible studies as well as short-term studies. We also offer a wide variety of common interest groups with a focus on fellowship and building relationships. Following are somce of our current offerings. This group typically studies a book of the bible and has recently studied the book of Hebrews. They meet in the Eddy Room.
This class provides opportunities to study biblical themes, spiritual practices and specific books or individuals of the bible. They meet in the Gray Parlor across from the sanctuary.
THROUGHOUT THE WEEK:
TUESDAY BIBLE STUDY
This group studies individual books of the bible as well as the weekly lectionary passages. It includes several members for whom Pine Ridge is not their home church but feel at home in this group. This group meets in the Eddy Room.
WOMEN & GOD - WEDNESDAYS 10:30-11:45 AM
Gather with these faithful women who meet each week in the Eddy Room for fellowship and digging deeper. This group enjoys a variety of bible studies which usually last a few months long and are determined by the group.
THE MYSTICS - THURSDAYS 1:00-3:00 PM
This class, led by our Pastor, Rev. Dr. Jim Gordon, studies contemporary and classical mystics. This group uses books and videos to study what the mystics have to say to us today. They meet in the Gray Parlor from September through May.
THURSDAY EVENING BIBLE STUDY - 6:30-8:30 PM (Beginning September 5th)
ELIJAH: SPIRITUAL STAMINA IN EVERY SEASON
This new study focuses on the struggles in our own lives by looking at one whose life was a real struggle, the prophet Elijah. Using the video series by Melissa Poelstra we will discuss the spiritual stamina secrets that helped Elijah hold on and persevere in faith.
MEN'S BIBLE STUDY - SATURDAYS 7:30 AM
This group of men meet every Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. for Bible Study. A variety of topics and books of the bible have been studied throughout the years and the time together includes good discussions. All men are welcome to join us. We meet in the Eddy Room.
ONCE A MONTH:
DEATH CAFE - FIRST THURSDAY, 6:30 pm
Based on the international movement this group seeks "to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their finite lives." This is done by providing a safe place to discuss death, individual priorities, share experiences and ask questions. Join us in the Holy Grounds Cafe, all are welcome. WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY - THIRD WEDNESDAY, 7:00 PM OR THIRD THURSDAY, 10:00 AM
Each month from September through May join us for a special Women's Bible study. This year we will be taking a fresh look at the Ten Commandments. We offer the same class two times a month, the third Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. or the third Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and we meet in the Gray Parlor.
This gatherinig is for couples of all ages and years of marriage who are looking to strengthen their marriages. The evening will include a breif time in the large group and plenty of time as couples with a specific focus each month.
COMMON INTEREST GROUPS:
This group meets the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. from September through May to discuss a book that has been chosen by the group. Meetings are held in different member's homes. Everyone is invited to attend. The month's book and location of the meeting are in the E-Tidings.
DINNER THEATRE LUNCH BUNCH
Five times a year a group of people attend a Wednesday matinee at the New Theatre Restaurant together. We receive group discounts and enjoy a great afternoon of good food and fun. Watch the E-Tidings for the next opportunity to attend. Advance reservations are required.
If you enjoy singing and using music to bring joy to others, this group is for you. We meet each Tuesday afternoon from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to practice or perform in local senior care centers. Our program runs from September though May and we meet in the Chapel when practicing.
MANY HANDS (CRAFT GROUP)
This group gets together to make craft projects on Wednesday and Saturday mornings throughout the year. Projects are accumulated and a fundraiser is held to benefit special projects in the church. Bring your scissors, glue guns, love of crafting - be ready to have fun and make friends! Join us!
This gathering is geared for those who are retired, or wish they were! The Primetimers meet at Pine Ridge on the first Friday of each month September-May at 12:00 p.m. in the Gathering Room West downstairs. They enjoy lunch, fellowship and a program of interest to the group. The cost for the lunch is $8 payable at the door with reservations due Tuesday prior to the event.
Do you love to knit, crochet, and do other hand sewing or needlework? This this group is for you! These knitters and more meet weekly at the church on Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. in the Gray Parlor to fellowship and do what they love to do. Come join us, there is always room for you!
