I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas Day. Thanks to all who helped to make the Advent Season and Christmas Eve beautiful and meaningful at Pine Ridge this year.
Christmas continues even when the music fades and the tinsel is boxed up for next year. I want to share with you part of the poem I read on Christmas Eve as we are inspired to continue to be followers of Jesus. Howard Thurman was a scholar, pastor, philosopher and an eloquent man of deep faith. He was a prophetic preacher, an educator, a theologian and an important leader in the American community, especially during the Civil Rights movement.
A Christmas Poem by Howard Thurman
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among others,
To make music in the heart.
