Whatever Global warming is, this is it. It will get worse. Perhaps for most of us it is really just a hot summer, but weather is get-ting more extreme worldwide.

I read the other day, “According to data from the National Oce-anic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), 2018 is on pace to be the fourth hottest year on record. Only three other years have been hotter: 2015, 2016 and 2017.”

Temperature records are being shattered all over the world. In Algeria the temperature in July was just over 124 degrees. Even Siberia is experiencing a heat wave with temperatures in the 90’s.

I heard on Tuesday that the Mendocino fire currently raging in California is now the biggest in state history, which surpassed the old record set by the Carr Fire just last week! The Carr Fire was so enormous it created it’s own weather system including a F3 fire tornado, which gives new meaning to ‘hell on earth.’

No one knows exactly what will happen, but most agree it is too late to do much to make a difference. A friend of mine who is a scientist said, “At this point it is like asking someone if they want to be hit by a train at 60 miles an hour or 40 miles an hour.” “We ain’t seen nothing yet,” as the old saying goes.

It sounds bleak and even hopeless. But although humans have never faced this exact crisis it is not too late to learn the lessons of the Creation, which is called by our spiritual fathers and moth-ers, “the first Bible.” Job 12:7-10 says, "But ask the animals, and they will teach you; the birds of the air, and they will tell you; ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In God’s hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being.”
