It is time to spring forward!
There are two words for “time” in Greek: chronos (think, chronological—hours and minutes) and kairos (the fullness of time). While it is time to set your clocks forward an hour, it is also the right time for Pine Ridge to move forward toward embracing the future to which God is calling us. This is the kairos moment not just to survive but to thrive. “Behold, now is the favorable time” (2 Cor 6:2), because it is God’s time.
At the February Session meeting the Elders voted to commit to forming several task forces and working groups to immediately address issues, ideas and passions expressed in the Brainstorming sessions. At least two Ruling Elders will lead each one, but the groups will be composed of teams of people from the congregation who volunteer out of their passion for the particular areas:
A task force to examine our services in regard to days, times, and style to meet the needs of our congregation and community to report back to session by the May 15 meeting. (Ruling Elders Mike Ahrendt and Suzy Proctor)
A working group to examine potential creative uses of our building or the sale of the property. (Ruling Elders Larry Benson and Jim Gray)
A task force to begin work immediately on a Planned Giving effort supporting Lisa– Anne Uhrmacher and her team. (Ruling Elders Mike Kruse and Kevin Humiston)
A working group to “figure out the money” for 2019-2021. (Ruling Elders Randall Miller, Debbie Folkedahl and Melanie Osterhaus)
A task force will begin work immediately on Growth Efforts. (Ruling Elders Jennifer Montgomery and Angie Van Batavia)
And finally, and most importantly:
A Prayer Team to pray through this process for Pine Ridge to know and do what God yearns for most for our church as a gift to our community. (Teaching Elders Jim Gordon and Buzzy LeCluyse)
There will be sign-ups available in the foyer for those who feel called to share their passions, energy and ideas in this Kairos moment.
Peace+,
