Pineridge Blog
Two things:
First, thanks to Myer Cohara, a 9 year old, who is very active at Pine Ridge. Last weekend Myer took it upon herself to sell cookies at the Weatherby Lake Triathlon; all proceeds going to hurricane relief. She raised $500! You go, girl!! Wednesday we sent it to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance where it is working today to support relief and recovery efforts in Texas and Florida. Thanks also to her grandmother who baked the cookies, her brother, Maclin, and her friends who helped. Congratulations to her dad, Ben, who won in his age division!
Second, our special guest in worship Sunday will be Rabbi Mark Levin. Rabbi Levin was here a couple of times in the great summer series, which brought in local Jewish leaders and scholars to help us think about Judaism, the Hebrew Scriptures and our shared faith. He is the founding rabbi of Synagogue Beth Torah, where he served for 26 years. He is also the author of Praying the Bible. Back by popular demand Rabbi Levin will be in worship with us Sunday, participating in a dialogue sermon discussing Jesus citation of the Greatest Commandments. He has also graciously agreed to stay for Sunday School to have further conversation with all who come. He is also planning a trip to Israel in the spring and will be glad to discuss it with anyone who is interested.
Peace+,
